He was once a stray but luckily for him he somehow found his way into a gang where he was kept safe and alive by kind people who came together to feed and care for him as best as they possibly knew how to. Ibu Komang and her family then offered him refuge in their home and it was them reaching out to us for help when they saw one of our team members feeding another dog not far from their road. Just by looking at Poleng you could see the hardship he had been through. He is around six years old and so ravaged by mange that his tortured skin is literally hanging off his body and the thick and crusty patches turned him to stone. You wouldn’t even believe that a dog could look this way. With every touch on his skin hurting, Poleng was understandably not very happy about our rescue attempt but we had to catch, assess and transport him to the clinic to receive expert treatment. Here the vets are now carefully and patiently taking care of him. At this moment we are waiting for the complete blood results to be evaluated, but medication has begun for his scabies, the infection the skin condition causes and anemia.As the story progresses, more updates will come about Polengs recovery and our efforts to make his life better and healthier.
